The Golden Years
MARCOS AYALA
Many recognitions and awards such as "World Champion of Tango" (Japan 2006) and "Authentic Revelation of Tango" for his leading role in the Musical "Chantecler Tango" (Argentina 2012-2014 and France 2013) propped up his career as a dancer. TANGO.
The Golden Years
“Tango. The Golden Years” — a dance production performed by the Marcos Ayala Dance Company, under the direction of Marcos Ayala, presented in Switzerland for the first time.
Marcos Ayala is a world tango champion, director, choreographer, and dancer — one of the leading figures on both the national and international tango stage. He masterfully combines the traditional language of tango with contemporary artistic expression.
Awards and recognitions: World Tango Champion (Japan, 2006); “Authentic Tango Revelation” for the leading role in the musical Chantecler Tango (Argentina, 2012–2014; France, 2013); Latin Ace Awards (New York, 2015).
As noted by major publications, Marcos Ayala has become a “global authority in tango” thanks to his dedication to the art form and his distinctive, energetic style, which has gained wide international recognition.
His company tours worldwide, appearing on major stages and earning both prestigious awards and the sincere acclaim of audiences.
From Buenos Aires to Harlem, from the 1920s to the 1930s, the performance transports the audience into a golden era when music and dance became expressions of freedom, identity, and celebration. It is a vivid musical and choreographic journey through the age of swing, big bands, underground clubs, tango canyengue, and milongas.
Dance becomes narrative; memory awakens with each step, and rhythm resonates like a voice of freedom. Through music, costume, and cultural detail, the artists reveal the spirit of tango — its sensuality and its charisma.
Costumes are created individually for each piece, with distinctive and carefully designed details and accessories. Together with the stage design and expressive lighting, they shape a rich visual atmosphere and a recognisable artistic signature.
The heat of the rhythms and the elegance of the dancers draw the audience into a continuous flow of movement: men in tuxedos and polished shoes, women in high heels and flowing dresses trace intricate, captivating patterns across the stage.
The company, founded by Marcos Ayala in Buenos Aires in 2012, emerged from a desire to keep tango alive — open to evolution, in dialogue with other art forms, and guided by a deeply personal vision.
Tango is a dance that connects eras, cultures, and hearts.
