Swan Lake
Grand International Classic Ballet
Pyotr Tchaikovsky's first version, 1877.
Swan Lake is the most famous ballet in the world, a perfect work of art. For the first time in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, it will be performed by the international troupe Grand International Classic Ballet under the direction of Sergei Bobrov, the only student of the legendary choreographer Yuri Grigorovich. The production will be shown in its original version, based on Pyotr Tchaikovsky's original source.
Grand International Classic Ballet is a constellation of first-class artists from England, Italy, France, and Spain who have already conquered half the world with their art.
In his production of Swan Lake, Sergei Bobrov returns to the original score, thereby preserving all the meanings underlying the musical drama of the ballet. Audiences will have a unique opportunity to experience the original source material — Pyotr Tchaikovsky's libretto!
This is both a tribute to Tchaikovsky's genius and a mesmerizing ballet experiment. The weightless white swan fairies are the hallmark of this ballet, while the impressive and innovative appearance of a flock of black swans on stage dramatically symbolizes the struggle between light and darkness, love and betrayal.
Choreographer Sergei Bobrov restores Swan Lake to its original meaning as a romantic ballet. Odette is a fairy, just like Sylphide, Giselle, and Undine, which is why her feelings are otherworldly. Pyotr Tchaikovsky was fascinated by this theme; he loved Giselle and chivalric novels.
On the path to happiness, the Prince and Odette face obstacles and trials that they must overcome. The soloists' amazingly refined skill and the striking synchrony of the corps de ballet are complemented by the dramatic talent of each performer, making the audience root for the lovers.
Highly artistic sets and unique video content beautifully complement the picture, sometimes creating the illusion of being in a medieval castle, sometimes transporting the viewer to the shores of a fairy-tale lake. The new version introduces the audience to the amazing characters historically embedded in the first version—from black swans and the evil fairy Owl to swan fairies as symbols of freedom.
The grace and impeccable professionalism of the ballet dancers bring to life the characters that the composer and choreographer have embedded in each ballet pas.
For the first time in cities in Switzerland and Liechtenstein:
Geneva, Lausanne, Thun, Zurich, Lucerne, Schaan (Liechtenstein).
This thrilling story, performed so delightfully, makes it possible to believe in magic and eternal love!
