The two-act ballet to music by Georges Bizet with choreography by Agnese Omodei Sale and Federico Veratti is based on a short story by Prosper Merimee.

 

The ballet tells the tragic story of the captivating gypsy Carmen and her lover, the soldier Don Jose, whom she leaves for the young torero Escamillo. The relationship between the characters and Carmen's death at the hands of Don Jose is foretold by fate. Marco Pesta's stunning sets and bold choreography create an atmosphere that seamlessly blends tradition and modernity.

 

The production combines the power of Bizet's classical music with the virtuosity of modern choreographers. On stage are graduates of the legendary La Scala Academy in Milan, recognized ballet masters whose performances have mesmerized audiences around the world.
