This is modern choreography combined with classical music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky performed by artists of the academic theatre "Kyiv Modern ballet".

 

In the story, King Florestan chooses charming Clemence between two women. Fairy Carabosse is furious that she was not chosen by the King and imposes a spell on their newborn child, Princess Aurora. When Aurora turns 18, despite the ban on the whole Kingdom on roses, the princess pricks herself on a rose and falls asleep for many years. The wicked magic of the Fairy Carabosse came true.  After 800 years, Prince Desiree finds sleeping beauty in an abandoned castle. Prince Desiree is married to the Fairy Carabosse but is unable to fight the feeling of love for the young Princess. Sleeping Princess Aurora becomes pregnant and in nine months gives birth to her son…

 

Working on a new contemporary choreographic masterpiece, genius Radu Poklitaru used his inspiration from the classical music of Peter Tchaikovsky and amazing stories from the author of the Neapolitan Giambattista Basile in his book "Tale of tales". It was him, who initially created the fairy tale. The production reveals a harmonious combination of reality and phantasmagoria, where true love becomes the centre around which everything else revolves.

 

The two-act modern ballet "Sleeping beauty", was created with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine.
